Argonauts veteran Jack Cassar selected for Carleton Ravens Hall of Fame

Toronto Argonauts linebacker Jack Cassar has been selected for induction into the Carleton Ravens Hall of Fame, the school announced on Tuesday.

The 29-year-old was a second-round pick in the 2020 CFL Draft. He has since played 74 regular-season games over six seasons with the Argonauts, recording 24 defensive tackles, 72 special teams tackles, and two forced fumbles.

The six-foot-three, 240-pound defender has won two Grey Cups with Toronto. The first came in 2022 at Mosaic Stadium in Regina, while the second came in 2024 at BC Place Stadium in Vancouver.

The native of Mississauga, Ont. was named a first-team U Sports All-Canadian during his final collegiate season at Carleton. He was also the OUA’s nominee for the President’s Trophy in 2019, and was named Carleton’s Male Athlete of the Year, becoming the first football player to receive the award in over 20 years.

Cassar will be inducted alongside rugby player Natasha Flowersmith (Smith), soccer players Sean Holmes and Stacey Siopis, water polo coach and builder David ‘Chick’ McClintock, football builder Kevin McKerrow, and the 2003-04 and 2004-05 men’s basketball teams, both of which won national championships.

The induction ceremony will take place on Friday, Oct. 2. Tickets are currently on sale.

The Toronto Argonauts (2-4) will visit the B.C. Lions (1-4) at BC Place Stadium on Saturday, July 25 with kickoff scheduled for 7:00 p.m. EDT. The Argonauts lost to the Hamilton Tiger-Cats last week after Lirim Hajrullahu missed a potential walk-off game-winning field goal, while the Lions failed in their comeback bid against the Edmonton Elks.

The weather forecast in Vancouver calls for a high of 22 degrees with a mix of sun and cloud. The game will be broadcast on TSN and RDS2 in Canada, CBS Sports Network in the United States, and CFL+ internationally. Radio listeners can tune in on TSN 1050 in Toronto and 730 CKNW (English) or Sher-E-Punjab Radio AM 600 (Punjabi) in Vancouver.
