The Saskatchewan Roughriders have signed American defensive lineman Thor Griffith.

The six-foot-two, 290-pound defender finished his collegiate career at the University of Louisville in 2024, recording 20 defensive tackles, five tackles for loss, three sacks, and one forced fumble.

Griffith signed with the Seattle Seahawks after going unselected in the 2025 NFL Draft but was released partway through training camp.

The native of Portsmouth, N.H. started his collegiate career at Harvard University, where he made 132 total tackles, 34 tackles for loss, 14 sacks, and two forced fumbles over 30 games. He was twice named first-team All-Ivy League, once named a first-team FCS All-American, and won the FCS Football Central Ivy League Defensive Player of the Year award in 2023.

The Roughriders hold the ninth overall pick in the 2026 CFL Draft, which is scheduled for Tuesday, April 28 at 7:00 p.m. EDT. All CFL training camps are scheduled to open on May 10. Saskatchewan will play its first preseason game against the Calgary Stampeders on Monday, May 18 and its first regular-season game against the B.C. Lions on Saturday, June 13.

In 2025, Saskatchewan finished first in the West Division standings with a 12-6 record. The team went on to defeat the Montreal Alouettes in the 112th Grey Cup in Winnipeg, marking the club’s first championship in 12 years.
