The Los Angeles Chargers visited the University of British Columbia for an up-close look at Canadian running back Isaiah Knight.

An LA scout came to practice as the Thunderbirds were preparing for the school’s sold-out homecoming game against the University of Saskatchewan in Week 4 on the Canada West schedule.

Knight carried the football 24 times for a single-game career-high 187 yards and two touchdowns, including one from 59 yards out, while recording three receptions for 26 yards in a 38-24 win over the Huskies on Friday, September 20.

The six-foot-two, 215-pound ball-carrier has been tearing through Canada West defences through four games this season. He has 61 carries for 433 yards (7.1 per carry) with four touchdowns plus nine catches for 55 yards.

Since word got out that the San Francisco 49ers asked for Knight’s game film in the offseason, the Chargers made the trip to Point Grey and the Philadelphia Eagles called UBC to learn more about the talented running back and asked for film to evaluate.

The Ottawa native carried the football 173 times for 1,106 yards (6.4 per carry) and six touchdowns last year while recording 27 receptions for 307 yards and one TD in 11 games. He was a Canada West conference all-star as the T-Birds won the 86th Hardy Cup.

Through three-and-a-half seasons and 32 games with the T-Birds, Knight has run for 3,122 yards, averaging 6.3 yards per carry and 97.56 rushing yards per game. He’s also caught 51 passes for 553 yards and three touchdowns.

Three NFL teams have already shown interest in Knight, so expect more to come as the 2025 NFL Draft-eligible back finishes his season and goes through the evaluation process.
