Saskatchewan Roughriders sign former NFL defensive back T. J. Green, one other

The Saskatchewan Roughriders have signed American defensive backs T. J. Green and Devin Jones.

Green was selected in the second round of the 2016 NFL Draft by the Indianapolis Colts and dressed for 31 games over two seasons with 11 starts at free safety. He recorded 88 total tackles, five tackles for loss, and three pass breakups before being released in September 2018.

The six-foot-three, 215-pound defender also had stints with the Seattle Seahawks (2018), New Orleans Saints (2019), Carolina Panthers (2019-2020), Atlanta Falcons (2020-2021), and Houston Texans (2021), dressing for nine games and making 15 total tackles and one knockdown.

The 27-year-old converted from receiver to safety while playing at Clemson University. He recorded 118 total tackles, 5.5 tackles for loss, two forced fumbles, three pass breakups, one sack, and one interception over 31 games with the Tigers.

Jones went unselected in the 2022 NFL Draft but signed with the Carolina Panthers after attending their rookie minicamp. He was released by the team one week later.

The five-foot-ten, 180-pound cover man played five seasons at the University of North Carolina Pembroke. He recorded 112 total tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss, 21 pass knockdowns, five interceptions, three forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, and one blocked field goal.

Also an accomplished return specialist, Jones brought back 87 kickoffs for 1,965 yards and four touchdowns along with 44 punts for 439 yards and another major. He was named First-Team All-Mountain East Conference twice as a returner.
