The Montreal Alouettes have signed American running back Marcus Major Jr., per sources.
The six-foot, 220-pound ball-carrier previously spent time on the Saskatchewan Roughriders’ practice roster during the 2025 season but didn’t see any regular-season action. He was released on February 4.
Major Jr. most recently played for the Houston Gamblers in the United Football League. He appeared in eight games, rushing 43 times for 228 yards and three touchdowns, while adding six catches for 37 yards.
The 25-year-old played collegiately at the University of Minnesota and the University of Oklahoma, rushing for a total of 1,185 yards, catching 43 passes for 321 yards, and scoring 14 touchdowns over 47 games.
Major Jr. had a stint with the Baltimore Ravens as an undrafted NFL free agent, though he didn’t dress for any regular-season games with the team.
The Montreal Alouettes (12-3) will host the Saskatchewan Roughriders (8-7) on Monday, October 12, with kickoff scheduled for 1:00 p.m. EDT. The Roughriders are coming off an upset loss to the Calgary Stampeders, while the Alouettes crushed the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.
