Calgary Stampeders sign local offensive lineman

The Calgary Stampeders have signed Canadian offensive lineman Tyler Packer, the team announced on Wednesday.

The six-foot-six, 280-pound blocker played four seasons with the B.C. Lions, dressing for 19 regular-season games and making 14 starts. His most recent start came in Week 5 of the 2025 season. He was originally a sixth-round pick in the 2021 CFL Draft.

The 27-year-old played collegiately at the University of Calgary, where he dressed for 37 career games. He was named the Canada West Rookie of the Year in 2017 and helped the Dinos win the Vanier Cup in 2019.

The Calgary native previously played locally for the Calgary Hilltoppers and at Notre Dame High School.

The Stampeders can clinch a playoff berth with a win over the Winnipeg Blue Bombers this week.

The Calgary Stampeders (8-8) will visit the Winnipeg Blue Bombers (7-8) on Saturday, October 10 with kickoff scheduled for 7:00 p.m. EDT. The Stampeders are coming off a 37-31 upset win over the Saskatchewan Roughriders, while Winnipeg got crushed by the Montreal Alouettes.

The game will be broadcast on TSN in Canada and CFL+ internationally. Radio listeners can tune-in on 770 CHQR in Calgary or 680 CJOB in Winnipeg.
