The Canadian Football League postseason kicks off Saturday with the Eastern and Western Division Semi-Finals, and we’ll soon know which two teams will battle it out in the 110th Grey Cup on Nov. 19 at Tim Horton’s Field in Hamilton.
Grey Cup CFL betting odds and picks: Best bets for Grey Cup favourite, underdog
The defending champion Argonauts (+110) are the favourites to repeat as the postseason begins. However, are they the best value in the Grey Cup futures market?
Read on for our pick for the Grey Cup front-runner, plus an underdog team to consider at a great price.
Grey Cup Best Bet: Blue Bombers (+155 or better)
The Blue Bombers sandwiched back-to-back Grey Cup titles around the cancelled 2020 season, and Winnipeg fell just short last November in a 24-23 loss to the Argos.
Many of the same players remain on this year’s squad, and the Bombers looked like a team on a mission all season while compiling a 14-4 record and a +217 point differential.
Zach Collaros is the key to the Bombers’ championship hopes after racking up a career-high 4,252 passing yards. However, running back Brady Oliveira is arguably nearly as important, considering he compiled 2,022 total yards and 13 touchdowns in 2023.
Ultimately, Winnipeg has as talented a roster as any squad in the six-team postseason field, including Toronto. As such, I’m rolling with them as my top Grey Cup futures pick.
Grey Cup Value Bet: Lions (+700 or better)
If you’re looking for an underdog bet, the Lions are certainly a team to consider. B.C. admittedly underachieved at times this season, including in its perplexing 41-16 home loss in Week 20 against the Stampeders with the West Division still within their grasp.
However, with Vernon Adams Jr. at quarterback, a talented versatile back in Taquan Mizzell, and a deep group of pass catchers, B.C. can certainly compete with any team in the postseason field.
