Toronto Argonauts sign former NFL receiver Martavis Bryant

The Toronto Argonauts have signed former NFL receiver Martavis Bryant.

The six-foot-four, 210-pound receiver was drafted in the fourth-round of the 2014 NFL Draft by the Pittsburgh Steelers

He made 26 receptions for 549 yards and eight touchdowns in ten games as a rookie, establishing himself as a deep threat. He improved on those numbers the following season, catching 50 passes for 765 yards and six touchdowns.

The Clemson product was traded to the Las Vegas Raiders prior to the 2018 season. He was facing a possible suspension for violating the league’s off-season drug policy but managed to dress for eight games. He was suspended indefinitely in December 2018 after violating the terms of his conditional reinstatement to the NFL.

In total, Bryant has recorded 145 receptions for 2,183 yards and 17 touchdowns in 44 regular season NFL games. He ran a 4.42 forty-yard dash at Clemson’s pro day and has a 39-inch vertical.

The Argos also re-signed defensive back Alden Darby who had 58 total tackles and five interceptions in 17 games in 2019.
