The Toronto Argonauts will be without two key members of their special teams unit for Saturday’s clash with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.
Returner Janarion Grant (knee) and punter John Haggerty (hamstring) have both been officially ruled out after being unable to practice this week.
Grant has been with the Argos since 2024 and was named the CFL’s Most Outstanding Special Teams Player that season. Through five games this year, he has fielded 18 punts for 271 yards and one touchdown, while adding 15 kickoff returns for 348 yards. The 32-year-old is third in all-time CFL return touchdowns with 13.

Haggerty is currently the CFL leader in both gross punting average and net, managing 52.0 yards in one category and 40.8 yards in the other. The native of Sydney, Australia, is a two-time East Division all-star.
It is unclear who will handle return duties for Grant. The Argos recently acquired Global punter James Burnip via trade from Ottawa, who will likely take over for Haggerty.
Also ruled out this week for Toronto are Canadian defensive lineman John Ojo (bicep) and Canadian receiver Nolan Ulm (shoulder). Canadian linebacker Cameron Judge (head/hamstring) and Jack Cassar (head) have been deemed questionable, while Canadian offensive lineman Dakoda Shepley (back) and American receiver Damonte Coxie (ankle) are available.
The Toronto Argonauts (2-3) will visit the Hamilton Tiger-Cats (2-3) at Hamilton Stadium on Saturday, July 18, with kickoff scheduled for 7:30 p.m. EDT. The Argonauts are coming off a 30-21 loss to the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, while the Tiger-Cats lost 38-7 against the Saskatchewan Roughriders.
The weather forecast in Hamilton calls for a high of 28 degrees and a 40 chance of rain. The game will be broadcast on TSN in Canada and CFL+ internationally. Radio listeners can tune in on TSN 1050 in Toronto or the Ticats Audio Network in Hamilton.
