The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have released American quarterback Bryan Scott from their practice roster.

The six-foot-two, 220-pound passer signed with the Blue Bombers earlier this month following a season-ending injury to backup quarterback Chris Streveler. He was added alongside Jake Dolegala, who previously started games with the Saskatchewan Roughriders and B.C. Lions, who has since earned the third-string role on Winnipeg’s depth chart.

Winnipeg also recently brought back rookie quarterback Darren Grainger, who was cut following training camp, adding him to the practice roster. Terry Wilson, the team’s rookie backup, took some reps in relief of Zach Collaros during last week’s win over the Edmonton Elks, completing one pass for four yards.

Scott was released by the Toronto Argonauts in mid-August following the reinstatement of Chad Kelly. He dressed for nine games in a backup role and completed all five of his pass attempts for 79 yards and a touchdown during his team’s loss to Montreal in Week 4.

The native of Rolling Hills, Calif. was a collegiate standout at Occidental College where he threw for 9,073 yards, 77 touchdowns, and 22 interceptions and carried the ball 158 times for 402 yards and 13 touchdowns over 33 games. As a senior, he was named the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference’s Player of the Year.

The Blue Bombers have also signed American offensive lineman Jake Hornibrook.

The six-foot-five, 300-pound blocker played 48 career collegiate games at Stanford University and Duke University, making 35 starts. The native of West Chester, Pa. started 12 games this past season for the Blue Devils at right guard and right tackle.

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers (9-6) will visit the Hamilton Tiger-Cats (6-9) on Friday, Oct. 4 with kickoff slated for 7:00 p.m. EDT.
