Calgary Stampeders release Montréal product Kaylyn St-Cyr, nine others

The Calgary Stampeders have released Canadian defender Kaylyn St-Cyr, the team announced on Wednesday.

The five-foot-eleven, 206-pound native of La Prairie, Que. dressed for 13 regular-season games in 2025, recording seven special teams tackles.

The 27-year-old was originally an eighth-round pick in the 2024 CFL Draft. He played seven regular-season games as a rookie, making nine special teams tackles.

St-Cyr played collegiately at the Université de Montréal, where he was a three-time RSEQ all-star, two-time U Sports All-Canadian, and won the Vanier Cup in 2023.

The Stampeders have also cut American receivers Shaq Davis and Jordan Kerley, Canadian offensive lineman Rodeem Brown, Canadian defensive lineman Max von Muehldorfer, American defensive linemen Savio Frazier and B.J. Thompson, and American defensive backs Millard Bradford, Corey Coley Jr., and Josh Proctor.

All nine CFL teams are required to trim their rosters to 75 players (not including draft picks) by 11:59 p.m. local time on Tuesday, May 12.

The Calgary Stampeders opened training camp on May 10. Calgary will play its first preseason game against the Saskatchewan Roughriders on Monday, May 18 and its second preseason game against the Edmonton Elks on Friday, May 29. Final roster cuts are due on Saturday, May 30, after which the team will play its first regular-season game against the Winnipeg Blue Bombers on Friday, June 5.

Calgary recently selected Angelo State linebacker Eric Rascoe with their first-round pick in the 2026 CFL Draft, adding a key piece to pair with veteran Micah Teitz. The team’s other major offseason addition was receiver Dejon Brissett, who set a career-high with 907 receiving yards with the Toronto Argonauts in 2025.

In 2025, the Stampeders finished third in the West Division standings with an 11-7 record but lost the West Semi-Final to the B.C. Lions.
