The Toronto Argonauts have signed American quarterback Anthony Guercio and American defensive lineman Jalen Bell to their training camp roster.
Guercio played 28 games over three collegiate seasons at Clarion University, an NCAA Division II program located in Clarion, Pa. He completed 60.8 percent of his passes for 4,743 yards, 37 touchdowns, and 16 interceptions, and rushed 358 times for 1,524 yards and 23 scores. He was a first-team all-conference selection in 2025.
The five-foot-eleven, 200-pound passer started his collegiate career at Fairmont State, an NCAA Division II program located in Fairmont, W.V. He threw for 235 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception as a member of the Fighting Falcons.
Bell concluded his collegiate career at the University of Memphis in 2025, tallying 36 tackles, 5.5 for loss, two sacks, and one interception in 13 games. The five-foot-11, 280-pound defensive tackle transferred from Middle Tennessee State University, where he recorded 24 tackles across five games for the Blue Raiders.
The Detroit, Mich., native originally committed to Mississippi Valley State University in 2019. Over four seasons, he registered 113 tackles, 26.5 for loss, 12 sacks, four forced fumbles, and four fumble recoveries.
The Toronto Argonauts added several key free agents this winter, including offensive lineman Dakoda Shepley, defensive lineman DeWayne Hendrix, strong-side linebacker Adarius Pickett, and defensive back DaShaun Amos. The team’s key losses included receiver Dejon Brissett (Calgary Stampeders) and linebacker Wynton McManis (Hamilton Tiger-Cats).
The Argonauts hold the second overall pick in the 2026 CFL Draft, which is scheduled for Tuesday, April 28 at 7:00 p.m. EDT. All CFL training camps are scheduled to open on May 10. Toronto will play its first preseason game against the Hamilton Tiger-Cats on Saturday, May 23, then its first regular-season game against the Montreal Alouettes on Friday, June 12.
In 2025, Toronto finished third in the East Division standings with a 5-13 record, missing the playoffs for the first time since 2019. Mike Miller was promoted to the role of head coach following the departure of Ryan Dinwiddie.
