The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have released Canadian linebacker Max Charbonneau.
Charbonneau was selected in the eighth round, 71st overall during the 2023 CFL Draft by the Bombers. He suited up in 12 games during the 2024 season, recording seven special teams tackles.
The six-foot-three, 225-pound Charbonneau played his collegiate football at the University of Ottawa. He suited up in 28 games over four seasons with the Gee-Gees, registering 53.5 total tackles.
His 2022 season was his best as he appeared in six regular season games at middle linebacker, recording 17 total tackles, one tackle for loss, one forced fumble, one pass breakup and one blocked kick. In two playoff starts that year, he tallied 10.5 tackles, two tackles for loss, one sack and one forced fumble.
The 25-year-old Charbonneau published a statement on his Instagram account: “You shaped the boy and tested the man. Thanks for a lifetime in moments.”
