The B.C. Lions have signed American linebacker Micah Awe for a fourth stint with the team.

The six-foot, 216-pound defender made 69 defensive tackles and four special teams tackles with the Calgary Stampeders last year, starting all 18 regular-season games at middle linebacker.

Aew was named All-CFL in his first season with the Stampeders in 2023 after recording 134 defensive tackles, six special teams tackles, three interceptions, two sacks, and one forced fumble.

The 31-year-old, who was born in Lagos, Nigeria and raised primarily in Texas, started his CFL career with B.C. in 2017, making 54 defensive tackles, 16 special teams tackles, and one forced fumble over 16 regular-season games.

Awe returned to the team in 2018 following a brief NFL stint with the New York Jets and played seven regular-season games, recording 31 defensive tackles and three special teams tackles.

The Texas Tech product signed with the Toronto Argonauts in 2019, Winnipeg Blue Bombers in 2020, and Ottawa Redblacks in 2021 before returning to Vancouver as a free agent in 2022. He requested his release when he was relegated to a depth role on defence and joined the Montreal Alouettes, with whom he started 12 games at middle linebacker.

In total, Awe has played 101 career regular-season CFL games and made 453 defensive tackles, 41 special teams tackles, six sacks, six forced fumbles, and five interceptions.
