Montreal Alouettes sign former NFL receiver Kyric McGowan

The Montreal Alouettes have signed American receiver Kyric McGowan to a two-year contract.

The five-foot-eleven, 198-pound native of Dalton, Ga. finished his collegiate career at George Tech University in 2021, where he made 37 receptions for 467 yards and seven touchdowns over 11 games.

McGowan previously played at Northwestern University where he made 68 catches for 802 yards and two touchdowns and rushed 55 times for 352 yards and two scores.

The 25-year-old signed with the Washington Commanders after going unselected in the 2022 NFL Draft and dressed for two regular season games with the team, though he didn’t record any statistics. He was moved to injured reserve following training camp in 2023 before being released outright.

McGowan was a member of the Jacksonville Jaguars and Miami Dolphins in 2024 but was released by both teams before the regular season got underway.

McGowan (5’11”, 198 lbs.) played four seasons at Northwestern University (2017-20) making 68 catches for 802 yards and two touchdowns. The 25-year-old also ran 55 times for 352 yards and two majors. The Dalton, GA native returned 22 kickoffs for 531 yards in 42 games for the Wildcats.

Then, he transferred to Georgia Tech University in 2021 making 37 catches for 467 yards and seven touchdowns in 11 games for the YellowJackets.

McGowan spent time with the Washington Commanders, the Jacksonville Jaguars and the Miami Dolphins. In ten preason games, he made 10 catches for 94 yards, and one touchdown. He gained nine yards on the ground and collected 139 yards and seven kick returns.
