The Hamilton Tiger-Cats have signed Canadian running back Ante Litre to a two-year contract extension. He was a pending free agent.

The 30-year-old recorded 62 carries for 168 yards and five touchdowns this past season, also performing short-yardage duty at quarterback. He also made eight catches for 91 yards and one score.

“Ante is someone we wanted back with our football club since day one,” said general manager Ted Goveia in a statement. “Ante constantly sets an example with his hard work, dedication and leadership both on and off the field. His versatility is incredibly valuable and we’re excited to have him back with the Tiger-Cats for the next two seasons.”

The five-foot-eleven, 223-pound native of Vancouver, B.C. was originally a fourth-round pick in the 2017 CFL Draft of the Calgary Stampeders. He has played 107 career regular-season games with the Stampeders, Edmonton Elks, Ottawa Redblacks, and Tiger-Cats, recording 815 rushing yards, catching 50 passes for 420 yards, scoring 12 touchdowns, and making 46 special teams tackles.

Litre has won one Grey Cup, which he accomplished with Calgary in 2018.
