The Edmonton Elks have signed Canadian defensive lineman Jacob Plamondon to a one-year contract extension. He was a pending free agent.

The 26-year-old native of Red Deer, Alta., played 12 games with the Elks this past season, his third with the team, and made four special teams tackles. He was also Edmonton’s nominee for the Jake Gaudaur Veterans Award.

The six-foot-three, 215-pound defender was originally a second-round pick in the 2022 CFL Draft. He has since made 14 special teams tackles over 31 career games and also taken occasional reps at fullback.

Collegiately, Plamondon made 39 total tackles, 16 tackles for loss, eight sacks, two pass knockdowns, and one forced fumble over 33 games at the University of Calgary.
