The Saskatchewan Roughriders have signed Canadian defensive back Kosi Onyeka to a contract extension. He was a pending free agent.
The six-foot, 195-pound defender has played 27 games over three seasons with the team, recording three defensive tackles, 25 special teams tackles, and one forced fumble.
The native of Brampton, Ont. played collegiately at the University of Guelph where he made 64 defensive tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss, one forced fumble, one interception, and three pass breakups.
Onyeka is brothers with former CFL linebacker Nakas Onyeka and Toronto Argonauts draft pick Ifenna Onyeka. He is also a cousin of Saskatchewan defensive back Godfrey Onyeka and Ottawa defensive lineman Kene Onyeka.
CFL free agency gets underway on Tuesday, Feb. 11 at 12:00 noon EST.
