The Toronto Argonauts have extended American running back Deonta McMahon and National defensive back Jon Edouard through the 2026 season, while adding American defensive back Lawrence Johnson to their training camp roster.
McMahon appeared in all 18 games for the Double Blue in 2024, rushing 48 times for 288 yards and four touchdowns, while adding 30 receptions for 237 yards and one more major through the air. The five-foot-eight, 185-pound back also added 456 kick return yards last season.
The Florida native has amassed 422 rushing yards and 301 receiving yards with eight total touchdowns over 25 CFL games with Toronto. The McNeese State product helped the Argos win their record 19Ty Grey Cup this past November.
Edouard played six games in 2024 and developed into a starter at cornerback, chipping in with six defensive tackles, one special teams tackle, and an interception. He appeared in all 18 games in 2023, tallying six defensive tackles, 11 special teams tackles, and one sack.
A native of Orlando, Fla., the five-foot-11, 185-pound cover man qualifies for National status after finishing his college career at Carleton University. He went unselected in the 2022 CFL Draft but signed with Toronto in September of that year and has since won two Grey Cups with the Boatmen.
Johnson played collegiately at Missouri State University, seeing action in 55 games over seven seasons. He recorded 283 tackles, five sacks, two interceptions, 22 knockdowns, three forced fumbles, and three fumble recoveries, earning first-team all-conference honours in 2022.
The St. Louis, Mo. native signed with the New Orleans Saints as an undrafted free agent in May 2024 but was released as part of final cuts in training camp.
