The B.C. Lions have signed Global defensive tackle Tibo Debaillie to a two-year contract extension that will keep him with the team through 2026.
The native of Gistel, Belgium is entering his fourth season as a member of the Lions and has played a regular rotational role on defence. In 47 games, he has notched 42 defensive tackles and five sacks. In 2024, he made history by scoring the first CFL touchdown by a Global player on a 20-yard fumble return in Week 1.
Debaillie was originally selected by the Edmonton Elks in the third round of the 2021 Global Draft. He suited up in three games during his rookie campaign and recorded one tackle before being released the following offseason.
The 27-year-old played collegiately for Towson University, collecting 29 tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss, and 1.5 sacks in 22 games played over three seasons. He began his football career with the Belgian Football League’s Ostend Pirates and helped the squad defeat Brussels in Belgian Bowl XXIX in 2016.
