The Tennessee Titans have requested and received permission to interview Catherine Hickman (née Raîche) for their vacant general manager position.

The native of Montreal, Que. has spent the past three seasons as an assistant general manager and vice president of football operations with the Cleveland Browns. She previously served a three-year stint with the Philadelphia Eagles where she held the titles of football operations coordinator and vice president of football operations.

The Université de Sherbrooke alumnus got her first job in the CFL in 2015 with her hometown Montreal Alouettes. She served as their coordinator of football administration for two years before receiving the title of assistant general manager. She left for the Toronto Argonauts in 2018 and served two years as their director of football administration before a brief stint with the Tampa Bay Vipers of the XFL.

According to the Browns, Hickman “manages the day-to-day operations of the team and contributes to all strategic roster decisions across the player personnel and football operation verticals.”

If hired, Hickman would be the third female ever to serve as a general manager in the CFL or NFL. Susan Spencer was the GM of the Philadelphia Eagles in 1983, while Jo-Anne Polak was the GM of the Ottawa Rough Riders from 1989 to 1991. Amy Trask has also been credited as filling many GM duties during her 17-year executive career with the Raiders, though she never officially held the title.

Hickman is married to former CFL player Justin Hickman, who was named All-CFL in 2011 as a member of the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. He has since worked as a scout for the Argonauts and Vipers, and is now a scout for the New England Patriots.
