The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have brought back a trio of players with previous experience with the club, signing Canadian defensive tackle Collin Kornelson, American offensive lineman Chris Walker, and American receiver Jaylen Hall.
Kornelson was selected by the Bombers with the 44th overall pick in the fifth round of the 2023 CFL Draft, attending the last two training camps with the team. He returned to school at the University of Manitoba each time, racking up 101 tackles, 9.5 tackle-for-losses, five sacks, one knockdown, and one forced fumble in 31 games for the Bisons since 2018. In his final season, the Winnipeg native was named a second-team All-Canadian at defensive tackle after posting 37 total tackles, five tackle-for-losses, and two sacks.
Walker was originally signed by the Bombers in October and finished the year on the practice roster. The six-foot-six, 305-pound native of Lincoln, Neb. spent five years at the University of Nebraska as a defensive lineman before transferring to the University of Montana where converted to the offensive line and won the starting job at left tackle. He was named All-Big Sky honourable mention in 2023.
Hall returns after being released in training camp, having previously had a cup of coffee with the Edmonton Elks. He began his collegiate career at Western Michigan, amassing 85 receptions for 1,532 yards and 14 touchdowns in 43 career games for the Broncos. After four seasons, the six-foot-three, 180-pound target transferred to Western Kentucky University, adding 68 receptions for 869 yards and six touchdowns in 14 games as a super senior in 2022.
