The B.C. Lions will be without all-star receiver Alexander Hollins when they host the Hamilton Tiger-Cats on Friday night, according to the team’s injury report.
The 27-year-old native of Mazoo City, Miss. has caught 56 passes for 881 yards and five touchdowns over 14 games this season. He suffered a shoulder injury during the club’s loss to the Toronto Argonauts that immediately preceded its recent bye week.
The six-foot, 175-pound target signed with the Lions in 2022 following a three-year stint in the NFL as a member of the Minnesota Vikings and Cleveland Browns. He has made 228 receptions for 2,171 yards and 15 touchdowns over 36 career CFL games and was named an East Division all-star in 2023.
Nathan Rourke will reportedly make his sixth straight start for the team despite being pulled against the Argonauts two weeks ago in favour of Vernon Adams Jr. The Canadian quarterback has thrown for 1,099 yards, four touchdowns, and seven interceptions since returning from the NFL and rushed for 155 yards and three touchdowns.
Canadian linebacker Ben Hladik is eligible to return to the lineup after missing B.C.’s last three games due to a calf injury, while starting defensive back Ciante Evans is questionable due to an issue with his elbow.
Former first-round CFL draft pick Nathan Cherry is questionable to play following a stint on the team’s six-game injured list, while former West Division all-star Bo Lokombo is questionable due to a shoulder injury.
The Lions (7-7) will host the Hamilton Tiger-Cats (5-9) on Friday, Sept. 27 with kickoff slated for 10:30 p.m. EDT. B.C. won the first meeting between the two teams by a score of 44-28 on July 7 at Tim Hortons Field.
