The Toronto Argonauts have signed four American players, including defensive lineman Jalen Green, linebacker Clayton Glasco, and defensive backs Willie Drew and Derek Slywka.
Green was named the Sun Belt Defensive Player of the Year as a senior at James Madison University where he made 50 tackles, 21 tackles for loss, 15.5 sacks, one interception, and two forced fumbles over nine games. The six-foot-one, 245-pound defender recorded 97 tackles, 31.5 tackles for loss, 20.5 sacks, two interceptions, and three forced fumbles over the course of his collegiate career.
Glasco spent the past two seasons with the San Diego Strikeforce and Bay Area Panthers of the Indoor Football League, making 40 tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss, one sack, and one interception in 2023. The six-foot, 225-pound defender played collegiately at Indiana State University where he made 117 tackles, 18 tackles for loss, 4.5 sacks, and one interception over 20 games with the Sycamores.
Drew was named the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Defensive Player of the Year in 2023 after making 34 tackles, six interceptions, and 16 pass breakups over 10 games at Virginia State University. He signed with the Carolina Panthers after going unselected in the 2024 NFL Draft but was released at the end of training camp.
Slywka was named first-team All-Conference as a senior at Ithaca University, a Division III program, where he made 51 tackles, six interceptions, 16 pass knockdowns, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery, and one blocked kick. The six-foot-three, 215-pound native of Waterloo, N.Y. was invited to rookie minicamp with the Indianapolis Colts in 2024.
The Toronto Argonauts (7-7) will host the Montreal Alouettes (11-2-1) on Saturday, Sept. 28 with kickoff slated for 7:00 p.m. EDT.
