The Ottawa Redblacks are facing major changes to their offensive line and linebacking corps ahead of Saturday’s clash with the Montreal Alouettes.
Left tackle Dino Boyd (bicep) has been placed on the six-game injured list after starting 12 games this season on Dru Brown’s blindside. Drake Centers, who started last week in place of injured right tackle Zack Pelehos, will now kick over to the left side with veteran Canadian sixth man Jacob Ruby stepping in again on the right. Former first-overall CFL Draft pick Dontae Bull will dress as insurance after being a healthy scratch the past several weeks.
Defensively, the Redblacks are scrambling after it was revealed that All-CFL strong-side linebacker Adarius Pickett will miss the remainder of the season with a torn Achilles. Frankie Griffin (ankle), who has collected 51 defensive tackles in 10 starts this year at weakside linebacker, will also join him on the six-game injured list.
Bennett Williams has been activated off the practice roster and will get the start at strong-side linebacker. American Davion Taylor will bump over to the weak side, while Global Tyron Vrede returns from a knee injury to start at middle linebacker.
American defensive back Adrian Frye and defensive end Andrew Chatfield will dress for insurance. Canadian rookie receiver Daniel Oladejo and linebacker Dawson Pierre will both be returned to the practice squad.
The Ottawa Redblacks (8-4-1) will host the Montreal Alouettes (10-2-1) on Saturday, September 21 at 3:00 p.m. EDT.
