The Montreal Alouettes can clinch a home playoff game with a win over the Ottawa Redblacks this week or if the Toronto Argonauts lose to the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.
The Alouettes are winless in their last two games but remain atop the East Division standings and the 3DownNation power rankings at 10-2-1. The team hosted the East Semi-Final in both of the last two seasons but hasn’t hosted the East Final since 2012.
Montreal ranks second league-wide in offensive points per game (26.3), sixth in net offence per game (350.8), first in offensive points allowed per game (20.2), fourth in net offence allowed per game (350.7), and third in turnover differential (plus-nine). The team already clinched a postseason berth earlier this month.
Toronto currently sits six points ahead of the Tiger-Cats in the standings, though Hamilton has won both head-to-head meetings so far this season. This will be the first meeting between the two teams at BMO Field this year as the first two took place at Tim Hortons Field in Steeltown.
The Redblacks can clinch their first playoff berth since 2018 with a win over the Alouettes after failing to do so last week against Hamilton. The team remains in control of its own destiny at 8-4-1 as Ottawa has two games against Montreal remaining on the schedule, giving them a chance to catch their East Division foes for first place.
Montreal will visit the Redblacks on Saturday, Sept. 21 with kickoff slated for 3:00 p.m. EDT.
