Over 20 musical artists are set to perform at free and ticketed events during this year’s Grey Cup Festival, including the Sam Roberts Band, The Trews, and Bif Naked.
The Sam Roberts Band will headline the Saturday night show at the Vancouver Convention Centre. The six-time JUNO Award winners have had five albums reach the top three of the Canadian charts, including Love at the End of the World, which reached the top spot. The group has also had three singles reach No. 1 on the Canadian rock charts, including “The Gate,” “Them Kids,” and “We’re All In This Together.”
The Trews will open on behalf of the Sam Roberts Band. Hailing from Antigonish, N.S., the six-time JUNO Award nominees have previously performed the national anthem at the 98th Grey Cup, the Grey Cup tailgate party in 2021, and last year’s East Final. The band’s first three albums went gold in Canada with hits “Not Ready to Go” and “Yearning” reaching No. 1 on the Canadian rock charts.
Bif Naked will perform at the gameday block party, located directly outside the stadium. Raised in Winnipeg, Man., she has had three singles reach the Canadian Hot 100, with “Spaceman” reaching No. 2 in 1998.
“It’s been a decade since we last hosted Grey Cup in Vancouver, so many people in B.C. and the Lower Mainland haven’t yet experienced the passion, energy, and charm of a Grey Cup Festival in their city,” said B.C. Lions president and Grey Cup Festival co-chair Duane Vienneau in a statement.
“The Grey Cup Festival intersects with business, sports, entertainment, and culture, allowing Canadians to engage with both the B.C. Lions and the CFL through a wide variety of activities and experiences. There’s really something for everyone. If you’ve never been to a Grey Cup Festival before, you’re in for a real treat.”
Other artists that will perform during the week include Tebey, Devon Cole, Felix Cartal, John Welsh & Ls Valientes, En Karma, Delhi 2 Dublin, Pinebarren, Jordan Klassen, Bitterly Divine, Garret T Willie, Dear Rouge, Orchard Sky, VAVO, Shawn Austin, and Chad Brownlee.
The Grey Cup is back in Vancouver for the first time since 2014. Its accompanying festival will take place for the week leading up to the big game on Sunday, Nov. 17. As previously announced, the Jonas Brothers will play the halftime show.
According to the map on Ticketmaster, several thousand tickets remain available in the upper deck at B.C. Place Stadium.
