The Calgary Stampeders have signed Canadian defensive lineman Anthony Federico.
The six-foot-three, 235-pound defender was released by the Montreal Alouettes on Tuesday. He joined the team in July after being released by the Hamilton Tiger-Cats during training camp and dressed for two regular season games but didn’t register any statistics.
The native of Niagara Falls, Ont. dressed for 23 games over two seasons with the Tiger-Cats, recording 10 special teams tackles.
Federico was originally a second-round pick in the 2022 CFL Draft out of Queen’s University where he made 87 total tackles, 34.5 tackles for loss, 20.5 sacks, and one pass knockdown with the Gaels.
The Stampeders (4-8-1) will host the Saskatchewan Roughriders (5-7-1) on Friday, Sept. 20 with kickoff slated for 9:30 p.m. EDT.
