Montreal Alouettes’ receiver Tyson Philpot will miss the remainder of the 2024 season with injury, 3DownNation has confirmed.

The star Canadian pass catcher was placed on the six-game injured list in Week 11 after sustaining a foot injury but was not ruled out completely at that time. Sources confirmed that the 24-year-old has since undergone surgery, but would not provide details about the nature of the injury.

In a post to his Instagram account on Thursday, Philpot indicated that he would not be able to return until 2025.

“To Be Continued 🤟🏽
Shoutout my team, the fans of the CFL and the whole city of Montreal! I can’t wait to be back healthy and write this next chapter in 2025! #SABN”

In nine appearances this season, Philpot caught 58 passes for 779 yards and five touchdowns. At the time of his injury, he sat second in the CFL for receiving yardage and remains in seventh place despite missing the last four games.

Philpot made 47 receptions for 532 yards and five touchdowns over 13 games in 2023. The six-foot-one, 195-pound target also caught the game-winning touchdown pass in the 110th Grey Cup and was named the game’s Most Valuable Canadian. He signed a contract extension with the Alouettes this offseason that will keep him with the team through 2025.

The native of Delta, B.C. was selected in the first round of the 2022 CFL Draft out of the University of Calgary. He caught 39 passes for 459 yards and two touchdowns during his first season in Montreal and was named the Most Outstanding Rookie in the East Division. He also returned 11 punts for 153 yards.

The Alouettes (10-2) will return to action on Saturday, September 14 when they visit the Calgary Stampeders (4-8) at 7:00 p.m. EDT.
