The Calgary Stampeders have released Canadian fullback Lucas Robertson.
The rookie from the University of British Columbia had been on the practice roster for the past several weeks but dressed for eight games earlier in the season, posting one catch for 13 yards.
The six-foot-four, 239-pound native of Edmonton was an eighth-round pick in the 2023 CFL Draft. He attended training camp with the Stampeders last season and dressed for one preseason game before returning to school.
The 22-year-old returned to the Thunderbirds for his final season of U Sports eligibility in 2023 and helped the team make an appearance in the Vanier Cup. He caught 15 passes for 133 yards and was named a first-team U Sports All-Canadian.
Robertson finished his U Sports career with 28 catches for 223 yards and one touchdown along with eight tackles.
The Stampeders (4-6) will face the Edmonton Elks (3-8) on Monday, September 2 at 6:00 p.m. EDT.
