Former Hamilton Tiger-Cats’ KR Tyreik McAllister makes 53-man roster with Raiders

Former Hamilton Tiger-Cats’ returner Tyreik McAllister has made the 53-man active roster with the Las Vegas Raiders.

The 26-year-old scored two touchdowns during the team’s preseason finale against San Francisco, drawing praise from head coach Antonio Pierce. He made two catches for 56 yards and one touchdown during the preseason and rushed for seven yards. His other touchdown came on an 81-yard punt return.

The five-foot-eleven, 180-pound speedster showed impressive versatility as a CFL rookie in 2023, leading the league in kickoff return average and all-purpose yards. He fielded 41 kickoff returns for an average of 25.3 yards, 56 punt returns for an average of 10.8 yards, and seven missed field goal returns for 408 yards and one touchdown.

The native of Latta, S.C. also recorded 13 carries for 52 yards and 27 receptions for 364 yards and two touchdowns while with the Ticats.

NFL teams were required to make their final cuts on Tuesday, Aug. 27 ahead of the regular season.
