B.C. Lions’ defensive lineman Christian Covington has been named the CFL’s top performer for Week 12 by Pro Football Focus (PFF) with a grade of 89.6.
The six-foot-two, 300-pound native of Vancouver, B.C. played 32 defensive snaps during his team’s 34-27 loss to the Ottawa Redblacks, recording one forced fumble. He has made 14 defensive tackles, three sacks, and one forced fumble over 11 games this season, his first in the CFL.
Ottawa quarterback Dru Brown was the highest-graded offensive player of the week with a score of 86.1. He completed 75.7 percent of his passes for 390 yards, three touchdowns, and one interception in his return from injury, leading the Redblacks to a win.
The Edmonton Elks had the highest-graded offensive line in the league with a group grade of 76.6. Left tackle Martez Ivey was the highest-graded individual at 81.4, followed by right guard Shane Richards at 71.3 and right tackle Brett Boyko at 68.4.
The CFL partnered with PFF for the first time ahead of the 2023 season. The American company uses game footage to review every player on the field and grades their individual performances on a scale from zero to 100.
The league unveils the top-graded players from PFF each week. Offensive and defensive players must play a minimum of 25 snaps to be eligible and special teams players must play at least 10. Ties are broken by the number of snaps played.
