Canadian receiver Kian Schaffer-Baker returns to the Saskatchewan Roughriders lineup for the team’s Week 12 matchup against the Toronto Argonauts.
The 26-year-old will be active for the first time since suffering a shoulder injury in the second quarter of the Riders’ Week 7 matchup against the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. The Mississauga, Ont. native has made 25 catches for 352 yards and two touchdowns in six games this season.
Canadian rookie Ajou Ajou will also be in the lineup after missing last week with a finger injury, while Mitch Picton hits the six-game injured list due to an ankle injury.
Newly signed American offensive lineman Trevon Tate will start at right tackle in his debut for Saskatchewan, kicking Logan Ferland back into guard with Nick Jones coming out of the squad.
Defensive back Deontai Williams will start at boundary corner this week with Amari Henderson out with a shoulder injury.
Also ruled out is starting running back A.J. Ouellette who was placed on the six-game injured list. It would have been the two-time East Division all-star’s return to BMO Field after leaving the Argos this off-season, but a hip injury will prevent that from happening. The 27-year-old returned from a three-game absence due to the same injury last week against the Montreal Alouettes.
Taking his place will be American running back Frankie Hickson who started in all three games Ouellette missed earlier this season. The 27-year-old has 41 carries for 235 yards with one touchdown while he has averaged 5.7 yards per carry during four games this season.
Linebackers American C.J. Avery and Canadian rookie Melique Straker will draw back in on the weak side, while Global defensive end Habakkuk Baldonado also returns.
The Riders (5-4-1) visit the Toronto Argonauts (5-4) with kickoff slated for 7:30 p.m. EDT on Thursday, August 22.
