If there was any question about Qwan’tez Stiggers’ confidence level in training camp with the New York Jets, it appears to be just fine.

The 22-year-old appeared in a recent TikTok video produced by the team featuring players reacting to their ratings in Madden 25, which is being released later this week.

“Awareness, 60?” said Stiggers before turning to the camera. “Y’all must ain’t seen my CFL tape! Six interceptions! 57 tackles! 13 pass breakups!”

According to common consensus, the awareness attribute represents how quickly a player reacts to their surroundings. Rookies typically have low awareness ratings, while veterans usually have high awareness ratings. It doesn’t seem unreasonable that an NFL rookie with no collegiate experience has a low awareness rating but Stiggers doesn’t seem to agree.

The native of Atlanta, Ga. might have a point, considering he’s already played a year of professional football, even if he slightly exaggerated his statistics. He played 16 games with the Toronto Argonauts in 2023 and made 15 starts, recording 53 defensive tackles, three special teams tackles, five interceptions, and five knockdowns.

Stiggers was selected in the fifth round of the 2024 NFL Draft earlier this year despite not playing collegiate football before suiting up for the Argonauts, becoming the first NFL player to be drafted directly from the CFL since Jermaine Haley, who was taken in the seventh round of the 1999 NFL Draft by the Miami Dolphins.

Shemar Bartholomew, an undrafted rookie out of Georgia Southern University, tried to calm Stiggers down during the video, questioning how many games he’s played. It didn’t work.

Stiggers also took issue with running back Braelon Allen’s awareness and strength ratings, loudly exclaiming, “Who came up with these ratings, bro!?” He later added, “I’m gonna call EA (Sports)! Who’s the owner?”

The six-foot, 197-pound defender made two total tackles and one tackle for loss during New York’s recent 20-17 preseason win over the Washington Commanders. The club will next see the field on Saturday, Aug. 17 against the Carolina Panthers.
