The Saskatchewan Roughriders have released American linebacker Zakoby McClain.
The 24-year-old dressed for three games in a depth role with the Riders this season, recording one defensive tackle and one special teams tackle.
The six-foot, 230-pound linebacker was a member of the New Orleans Breakers of the USFL before signing with Saskatchewan in January. He was previously with the Baltimore Ravens after going unselected in the 2022 NFL Draft, though he was waived at the conclusion of training camp.
The Valdosta, Ga. native played four collegiate seasons at Auburn University, recording 267 defensive tackles, 19 tackles for loss, six sacks, one interception, nine pass deflections, and four forced fumbles across 49 games. He was named second-team All-SEC as a senior in 2021.
The Saskatchewan Roughriders (5-3-1) will host the Montreal Alouettes (8-1) on Friday, Aug. 16 with kickoff slated for 9:00 p.m. EDT.
