Canadian QB Tre Ford powered Sunday’s game between the B.C. Lions and Edmonton Elks to the highest English-language television rating of Week 10, drawing an average audience of 528,900 on TSN.
Ford completed all six of his pass attempts for 96 yards and ran twice for 11 yards before leaving the game late in the second quarter with an injury to his ribs. McLeod Bethel-Thompson threw for 171 yards, one touchdown, and one interception in a relief role, helping lead the Elks to a 33-16 win.
The game blew the Toronto Blue Jays out of the water as they drew a television audience of 261,500 for an 8-4 loss to the Oakland Athletics. It was easily Toronto’s lowest rating of the week after drawing 565,700 for a 7-6 win over the Baltimore Orioles on Thursday, 547,600 for a 3-1 win over the Athletics on Friday, and 439,600 for an 0-1 loss to Oakland on Saturday.
The CFL continues to perform well on Sundays, marking their highest day of the week through the first 10 weeks of the season.
Thursday’s rain-soaked matchup between the Saskatchewan Roughriders and Ottawa Redblacks came close to matching the rating from Sunday, drawing an average audience of 526,700. Friday’s game between the Calgary Stampeders and Toronto Argonauts drew the lowest rating of the week at 353,500.
