Edmonton Elks’ DL Shawn Oakman named CFL’s top performer for Week 10 by PFF

Edmonton Elks’ defensive lineman Shawn Oakman has been named the CFL’s top performer for Week 10 by Pro Football Focus (PFF) with a grade of 91.2.

The six-foot-nine, 290-pound native of Philadelphia, Pa. made three tackles, one sack, and one forced fumble during his team’s 33-16 win over the B.C. Lions. He has now made 17 tackles, two sacks, and one forced fumble since joining the Elks as a free agent following his release from the Toronto Argonauts.

Hamilton Tiger-Cats’ quarterback Taylor Powell was the highest-graded offensive player of the week with a score of 86.7. He completed 30-of-38 pass attempts for 319 yards, two touchdowns, and zero interceptions during his team’s 33-23 loss to the Montreal Alouettes.

The Toronto Argonauts had the league’s highest-graded offensive line this past week with a group score of 77.9. Centre Peter Nicastro had the best individual grade (76.2) followed by left guard Ryan Hunter (73.1) and left tackle Isiah Cage (71.3).

The CFL partnered with PFF for the first time ahead of the 2023 season. The American company uses game footage to review every player on the field and grades their individual performances on a scale from zero to 100.

The league unveils the top-graded players from PFF each week. Offensive and defensive players must play a minimum of 25 snaps to be eligible and special teams players must play at least 10. Ties are broken by the number of snaps played.
