Veteran quarterback Trevor Harris was a full participant in practice with the Saskatchewan Roughriders on Monday after completing a stint on the six-game injured list.
Head coach Corey Mace didn’t commit to starting Harris this week, though it seems like there’s a good chance he will be in the starting lineup.
“We’ll see. Nothing’s promised but there’s definitely a shot (for him to start),” said Mace. “Ultimately, I’ll make that decision by the end of the week.”
“We’re in a good spot right now. Ultimately, having Trevor back is huge. If it makes sense for him to be the guy this week, then we’ll look to that. If it’s maybe another week he needs, then we’ll do what’s best for the team.”
The 38-year-old passer left Saskatchewan’s win over the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in Week 3 shortly before halftime, suffering an MCL sprain in his left knee on a hit from defensive end Nick Usher. He returned to the sideline to start the second half and warmed up wearing a brace but did not take another snap, eventually landing on the six-game injured list.
Running back A.J. Ouellette, who has missed three games due to a hip injury, was also a full participant on Monday, while middle linebacker Jameer Thurman was limited due to an elbow injury that held him out of last week’s tie to Ottawa. Weak-side linebacker C.J. Avery (head) and offensive lineman Jacob Brammer (knee) did not participate.
The Saskatchewan Roughriders (5-3-1) will host the Montreal Alouettes (8-1) on Friday, Aug. 16 with kickoff slated for 9:00 p.m. EDT.
