The Atlanta Falcons have released former CFL all-star receiver Austin Mack. He was targeted once during the team’s recent 20-13 preseason loss to the Miami Dolphins but didn’t register a catch.

The 26-year-old made 78 receptions for 1,154 yards and four touchdowns as a member of the Alouettes in 2023 and was named a CFL all-star. He was a key part of the team’s surprise championship run, making 13 catches for 185 yards and two touchdowns, including a 104-yard performance in the Grey Cup.

Mack went unselected in the 2020 NFL Draft out of Ohio State University but signed with the New York Giants shortly thereafter. He played 11 games with the team that season and made seven catches for 91 yards.

The six-foot-two, 215-pound target was released by the Giants in 2021 after being placed on injured reserve. He briefly joined the practice roster with the Tennessee Titans before signing with the San Francisco 49ers. The native of Fort Wayne, Ind. attended training camp with the 49ers in 2022 but was waived as part of the team’s final cuts.

Mack ran a 4.59-second forty-yard dash at the 2020 NFL Combine along with a 31.5-inch vertical jump and nine-foot, nine-inch broad jump. He made 79 catches for 1,050 yards and six touchdowns over the course of his collegiate career with the Buckeyes.

The Falcons released Mack and running back Robert Burns to make room for defensive backs Josh Thompson and William Hooper.

Mack’s exclusive CFL rights belong to the Alouettes through February 2025.
