The Saskatchewan Roughriders will be missing a key member of their defence for Thursday’s match up with the Ottawa Redblacks.
Linebacker Jameer Thurman has been placed on the six-game injured list with an elbow injury. Thurman has been a dominant force for the Green and White this season, amassing 37 defensive tackles, two special teams tackles, a forced fumble, an interception and a touchdown.
Rookie C.J. Avery will shift from weakside linebacker to fill the void Thurman has left in the middle of the Riders’ defence. Through eight games this season, Avery has registered 25 defensive tackles, four special teams tackles, two interceptions and a forced fumble.
Saskatchewan will also have two major changes along the offensive line as rookie Nick Jones replaces the recently retired Brandon Council at right tackle and Zack Fry will fill in for Ryan Sceviour at left guard who was placed on the six-game injured list with an elbow injury. Noah Zerr will also dress as insurance.
The Saskatchewan Roughriders (5-3) will travel to Ottawa to face the Redblacks (5-2) on Thursday, August 8 at 7:30 p.m. EDT.
