Canadian quarterback Tre Ford helped TSN produce tremendous television ratings for his team’s matchup with the Saskatchewan Roughriders in Week 9.
The ultra-athletic QB brought new energy to Edmonton’s starting lineup while leading the Elks to a 42-31 win at Mosaic Stadium. The latest victory snapped an 11-game losing streak for the Green and Gold, dating back to September 15, 2023.
Breakout star Javon Leake rushed 12 times for 169 yards and three touchdowns. Last year during that meeting in Regina with Ford starting, American running back Kevin Brown rushed 19 times for 175 yards and one TD. Similar statistical lines for the main ball carriers in those outings.
Ford completed 18-of-22 passes for 252 yards with two touchdowns, including a perfect 93-yard pass to Tevin Jones on a go route down the left sideline, and one interception while rushing five times for 46 yards. He helped Edmonton record win No. 1 this season following an 0-7 start with McLeod Bethel-Thompson as the starter for all those losses.
Ford’s electric playmaking ability drew in eyeballs eager to watch what he will pull off next.
