The Ottawa Redblacks have released veteran American defensive back Sherrod Baltimore and Canadian running back Amlicar Polk.
Baltimore re-joined the team in June after being allowed to walk in free agency. He suited up in five games and recorded eight defensive tackles.
The 31-year-old native of Fort Washington, Md. played 10 games with the team last season and made eight starts at field-side cornerback, recording 18 total tackles and two interceptions. He has played 71 career CFL games as a member of the Redblacks since 2017, making 154 total tackles, four interceptions, and one forced fumble.
Polk was selected by the Redblacks in the seventh round, 58th overall, out of the University of Ottawa in the 2023 CFL Draft. After returning to school last year, he dressed for six games as a rookie in 2024 but did not record a statistic.
The Dundas, Ontario native was buried on the Gee-Gee’s depth chart behind Jean-Paul Cimankinda for much of his career, carving out a strong niche on special teams with 23.5 career tackles. He finally became the feature ball carrier last season, rushing for 824 yards and seven touchdowns in seven games en route to a first-team OUA all-star selection.
The Ottawa Redblack (5-2) return to action on Thursday, August 8 when they host the Saskatchewan Roughriders (5-3).
