The Saskatchewan Roughriders will be without their top defensive lineman for at least the next few weeks.

Anthony Lanier II (knee) has been placed on the six-game injured list ahead of Saturday’s matchup with the Edmonton Elks. The 31-year-old has been one of the most versatile pass-rushing threats in the CFL over the last several years, posting nine defensive tackles, two sacks, and a forced fumble in seven games this season. Over 39 games as a Rider, he has collected 60 tackles, 16 sacks, and three forced fumbles.

Miles Brown, who has five tackles, a sack, and a forced fumble in five games this year, will get the start at defensive tackle. Rookie Caleb Sanders will dress as insurance.

The Riders will also undergo a change at right tackle for the second straight game, as rookie Jacob Brammer (hamstring) has been placed on the one-game injured list after tweaking his leg in practice. Experienced starter Brandon Council, who was recently activated from the team’s suspended list after exploring off-the-field opportunities, will slot right in.

Among other changes, rookie Canadian Ajou Ajou will get the start over veteran Mitch Picton at receiver, though both remain on the roster. National defensive back Kosi Onyeka will also dress in place of the recently retired Nicholas Dheilly.

Running back A.J. Ouellette (hip) will stay on the one-game injured list for a second straight week, with Frankie Hickson getting the nod after a 117-yard performance against Montreal. Defensive back Deontai Williams will be a healthy scratch.

The Saskatchewan Roughriders (5-2) will host the Edmonton Elks (0-7) on Saturday, August 3 at 7:00 p.m. EDT.
