The Toronto Argonauts have signed defensive back Tarvarus McFadden.
The 27-year-old attended training camp with the team earlier this year but was released as part of final roster cuts. He recently spent time on the practice roster with the Ottawa Redblacks, though he was cut earlier this month.
The six-foot-two, 205-pound defender played 33 games over three seasons with the Argonauts, recording 65 defensive tackles, five special teams tackles, four interceptions, and two forced fumbles. He won a Grey Cup as a member of the team in 2022.
McFadden played three collegiate seasons at Florida State University, making 53 tackles, three sacks, and eight interceptions. He was named a first-team All-American in 2016, a finalist for the NCAA’s top defensive player award, and won the Jack Tatum Trophy as the nation’s top defensive back.
The Argonauts have also signed defensive lineman Atlias Bell.
The six-foot-one, 275-pound defender played collegiately at the University of Houston where he made 83 tackles, 15.5 tackles for loss, eight sacks, and one forced fumble over 37 games. Bell also attended training camp with Toronto earlier this year, though he was released on June 1.
