Hamilton Tiger-Cats’ defensive tackle DeWayne Hendrix has been named the CFL’s top performer for Week 7 by Pro Football Focus (PFF) with a grade of 87.8.

The six-foot-four, 270-pound defender made two defensive tackles and one sack against his old team, receiving a grade of 87.8. The performance helped the Tiger-Cats win their first game of the season, topping their QEW rivals by a score of 27-24.

Hendrix became the CFL’s seventh-highest-paid defensive lineman this off-season when he signed in Steeltown as a free agent. He made 23 tackles, six sacks, and one forced fumble with the Argonauts in 2023.

Saskatchewan Roughriders’ receiver Ajou Ajou was the highest-graded offensive player of the week, earning a grade of 81.3. The seventh-round CFL draft pick out of Garden City Community College made four receptions for 110 yards in his team’s 19-9 win over Winnipeg, shining in a relief role after Kian Schaffer-Baker left the game due to injury.

The Saskatchewan Roughriders had the highest-graded offensive line of the week, led by newcomer Jacob Brammer with an individual grade of 70.9. Right guard Logan Ferland was graded at 67.8, followed by centre Peter Godber at 67.1.

The CFL partnered with PFF for the first time ahead of the 2023 season. The American company uses game footage to review every player on the field and grades their individual performances on a scale from zero to 100.

The league unveils the top-graded players from PFF each week. Offensive and defensive players must play a minimum of 25 snaps to be eligible and special teams players must play at least 10. Ties are broken by the number of snaps played.
