The Edmonton Elks have signed American defensive lineman DeMarcus Christmas and Canadian defensive back Josh Hagerty.
Christmas spent the past two seasons with the Saskatchewan Roughriders, recording 42 defensive tackles and two sacks over 30 regular season games with 11 starts.
The 29-year-old native of Bradenton, Fla. was selected in the sixth round of the 2019 NFL Draft by the Seattle Seahawks but never recorded any regular season statistics over a three-year career with Seattle and Pittsburgh.
Hagerty was recently released by the Elks but is back following a season-ending injury to Scott Hutter. The University of Regina product has played 34 career CFL games as a member of the Toronto Argonauts and Elks, making 23 defensive tackles, 17 special teams tackles, and one forced fumble.
The Edmonton Elks (0-6) will host the Hamilton Tiger-Cats (1-5) on Sunday, July 28 with kickoff slated for 7:00 p.m. EDT.
