The Montreal Alouettes have signed Canadian receiver Nate Behar following their Week 7 bye week.
Behar has been on the market since February when he was released by the Ottawa Redblacks despite substantial guaranteed money in his contract. The move comes as fellow Canadian receiver Kaion Julien-Grant battles a shoulder injury and could miss several weeks.
The 29-year-old was limited to 12 games in 2023 and saw his production dip as the Redblacks struggled with quarterback issues. He caught 39 passes for 394 yards and one touchdown, finishing fourth on the team.
The Carleton University product was originally selected in the first round of the 2017 CFL Draft by the Edmonton Football Team. He spent two seasons in the Alberta capital before signing with Ottawa as a free agent. He has made 179 receptions for 1,926 yards and four touchdowns over 86 career CFL games.
Prior to turning pro, Behar caught 178 passes for 2,577 yards and 21 touchdowns in four seasons with the Ravens.
The Alouettes also brought back American linebacker Bryce Notree, who was released earlier this year. In 10 games in 2023, the Southern Illinois product notched 21 defensive tackles, 11 special teams tackles, and a sack.
Montreal (5-1) will return to practice on Sunday before taking on the Saskatchewan Roughriders (5-1) on Thursday, July 25 at 7:30 p.m. EDT.
