Toronto Argonauts fans could be in for a pleasant surprise on Saturday night, as one of the team’s top pass rushers might be making his return to the lineup.

All-star defensive tackle Jake Ceresna is listed as a game-time decision after missing last week’s victory over the Montreal Alouettes with a shoulder injury. The 30-year-old native of New Fairfield, Conn. was a limited participant in the first two practices of the week before competing fully in Thursday’s session, making him a possibility for game day.

The six-foot-five, 295-pound pass rusher was traded from Edmonton to Toronto this past off-season in exchange for Canadian receiver Kurleigh Gittens Jr. He has recorded eight tackles and two sacks through four games with the Argonauts this season, his first with the team.

If he’s able to go, Ceresna will replace fellow defensive tackle Jordan Williams (ankle) in the starting lineup, after the newcomer was placed on the six-game injured list. In 79 career CFL games as a member of the Ottawa Redblacks, Elks, and Argonauts, Ceresna has made 171 tackles, 39 sacks, and seven forced fumbles.

Toronto is expected to make one more tweak to their starting lineup, with Leonard Johnson heading to the practice roster and Benjie Franklin taking over at boundary cornerback. Canadian field corner Jonathan Edouard (foot) has also been listed as a game-time decision, with American Mason Pierce dressing as his backup.

The Toronto Argonauts (3-2) will visit the Hamilton Tiger-Cats (0-5) on Saturday, July 20 at 7:00 p.m. EDT.
