The Calgary Stampeders will have their top running back return to the lineup when they face the Winnipeg Blue Bombers but have lost their top backup long-term.
After missing last week with an oblique injury, Dedrick Mills will be back in the lineup for the Stampeders. The 27-year-old has carried the ball 40 times for 184 yards so far this season, adding 10 receptions for 135 more through the air. In 24 career games, he has amassed 1,445 rushing yards and 363 receiving yards, as well as six touchdowns.
Backup B.J. Emmons (hamstring) has been placed on the six-game injured list after going down late in the Week 5 loss to Montreal. Through four games, he posted 16 carries for 44 yards and five catches for 56 yards. Peyton Logan, who ran for 65 yards on six carries in his first appearance last week, remains on the roster as the secondary back.
Also out of the lineup this week is rookie Canadian defensive back Ben Labrosse (ankle), who has been placed on the one-game injured list. The fourth overall pick in the 2024 CFL Draft has two total tackles in his career and will be replaced with local product Nick Statz.
Left tackle D’Antne Demery (toe) has been listed as a game-time decision. If he is unable to go, Trevon Tate is expected to be activated after serving as a healthy scratch all season. American receiver Tre Odoms-Dukes continues to be the other healthy scratch.
The Calgary Stampeders (2-2) will visit the Winnipeg Blue Bombers (1-4) on Friday, July 12 at 8:30 p.m. EDT.
