The Ottawa Redblacks have signed American defensive back Elijah Blades to the practice roster.

The six-foot-two, 185-pound native of Pasadena, Calif. was in training camp with the team, though he was released before its conclusion. The 25-year-old finished his collegiate career at the University at Buffalo where he made 27 total tackles and 1.5 tackles for loss in 2022. Blades had previous collegiate stints at the University of Florida and Texas A&M.

The Redblacks have also released American running back Kylin Hill.

The five-foot-ten, 214-pound ball-carrier was selected in the seventh round of the 2021 NFL Draft and played eight games with the Green Bay Packers before suffering a season-ending knee injury. He released late the following year amid an apparent playtime dispute, finishing his NFL career with 11 carries for 31 yards and one reception for five yards.

Hill was signed by the XFL’s Orlando Guardians earlier this off-season, but released when the team folded during the UFL merger.

The Ottawa Redblacks (2-1) will visit the Winnipeg Blue Bombers (0-4) on Friday, July 5 with kickoff slated for 8:30 p.m. EDT.
